Simple Harmony Farms is a small family enterprise deeply committed to farming using organic principles and sustainable practices. We love to produce delicious, wholesome "real" food without pervasive chemicals. Sharing the excellence of fresh food with others who appreciate it is a joy.
Since moving the farm from Hammond to Loranger in 2009, Simple Harmony Farms has grown to include an apiary, producing delicious raw honey that is never heated or filtered.
You can find us in Loranger at the farm by appointment, on Facebook or at simpleharmonyfarms@gmail.com.
Our honey can be found at the Hammond Farmers Market every Saturday from 8am until noon.
Simple Harmony hens, both layer and broiler, are raised in chicken tractors, similar to those pioneered by Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms.
Pasture-raised chicken contains 50 percent more vitamin A compared to conventionally raised chicken. This nutrient plays an important role in supporting good vision, cell division and growth, a strong immune system and skin health.
Pasture raised chicken is rich in omega-3 fats: In a 2008 study published in the journal Poultry Science, researchers discovered that pasture-raised chicken has significantly higher amounts of omega-3 fatty acids than chickens that do not have access to fresh forage.
Eggs from pastured chicken typically contains three times more vitamin E, two times more omega-3, seven times more beta-carotene and one-third less cholesterol than eggs harvested from conventionally raised chicken.
Our apiary is located in Loranger, La.
We use no chemicals in or around our hives.
Our honey is never heated or filtered.
Our honey is only passed through a strainer.
We pour into either a glass jar or BPA free bottle.
The honey we produce is as raw as it can get.
